Retail My Ride was created by a seasoned automotive professional and fellow used-car dealer with a long-term vision that goes far beyond another lead-gen site.
Our platform was built by a dealer, for dealers to source and deliver quality vehicles from informed private-party sellers who want to connect with your dealership to reap the financial benefits of consignment instead of wholesale.
Unlike traditional acquisition channels, Retail My Ride attracts, informs, converts, and connects motivated sellers directly to your dealership for consignment — helping you sell vehicles alongside your owned inventory, without flooring cost or risk.
We only source the vehicles that match your buying preferences, which means no matching cars from us = no cost to you. It’s all about giving your dealership access to quality retail-ready vehicles that make you money — without tying up your capital.
All licensed retail dealers in good standing with their state are eligible to join Retail My Ride, provided they publicly and routinely offer professional retail consignment services — or are open to integrating them into their current operations through our start-up training process.
We prioritize partnerships with reputable dealerships that maintain a 4.2-star or higher Google rating and a proven record of ethical business practices.
After you complete your online registration, Retail My Ride will verify your eligibility requirements — including licensing status, contact information, and public reputation — before scheduling your onboarding session.
Inventory diversity is one of Retail My Ride’s biggest advantages.
Our platform connects dealers with a wide range of privately owned vehicles available for consignment — including cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, classics, antiques, vintage, exotics, performance, luxury, mobility, and custom or modified vehicles.
All vehicles are sourced directly from private-party sellers who meet quality and condition standards verified through our qualification process. Dealers can customize their matching preferences to target the specific vehicle types that best fit their inventory mix and retail strategy.
Step 1:
Go to RetailMyRide.com to complete your free online dealer sign up, then log in to create and activate your free dealer profile. Takes 15 minutes.
Step 2:
One of our consignment expert representatives will contact you to complete the onboarding process. Takes 15-20 minutes.
Step 3:
If you are new to consignment, let us know and we will provide online training and ongoing support to you and your key dealership personnel. Your success is our success!
Step 4:
Retail My Ride works all seller connects generated from its website traffic. We contact each seller directly to discuss consignment and qualify/disqualify their vehicle based on pre-determined criteria. Our objective is to convert "qualified connects" and schedule an appointment date for the seller to bring their car to your dealership for a hands-on evaluation and appraisal. Our platform automatically sends a "get connected" appointment confirmation email to the seller and to your designated dealership contact.
You can Pause and Resume your free dealer profile any time to manage the flow of cars based on your inventory sourcing needs.
Step 5:
If you like their car, and if they like your program terms and requirements then shake hands, sign your agreement and take their car into your inventory to sell it just like any other acquired car.
Step 6:
Once a referred seller's car is listed in your inventory (consigned or purchased) we bill your dealership a flat "landing fee" and invoice you on the first of each month. No cars from us, No cost to you.
If a consigned vehicle is removed from your inventory (unsold) by the seller for any reason within 90 days from arrival date, you can submit a request for a 100% fee credit.
Yes. The vehicles we source for you are on consignment from private-party sellers — and they arrive at your dealership free of charge.
That means no cash outlay, no floorplan cost, no auction sale fee, and no transportation expense. Once you accept a vehicle into your inventory, you prepare it (at the seller’s expense) and retail it alongside your owned inventory. When the vehicle sells and you’re fully funded, you simply deduct your consignment fee (commission) and any approved reconditioning charges, then remit the net proceeds to the seller.
The only cost to participating dealers is a small, flat landing fee billed by Retail My Ride once the referred vehicle lands in your inventory — whether it’s consigned or purchased outright. This fee is just a fraction of today’s typical auction buyer fees and covers our cost of attracting, informing, converting, and connecting the seller and their vehicle directly to your dealership.
No. Retail My Ride is free to join — there are no monthly subscriptions, annual dues, or hidden costs.
You only pay a simple flat landing fee when a referred vehicle arrives at your dealership and is taken into your inventory — whether through consignment or purchase.
That fee is always a fraction of traditional auction costs — and unlike auctions, if a consigned vehicle is removed unsold by the seller within 90 days, you can request a 100% credit.
No contracts. No long-term commitments.
Retail My Ride was designed to give dealers total flexibility — you can sign up online for free (takes 5 minutes), activate your free profile, and participate for as long as it fits your sourcing strategy. There are no setup fees, subscriptions, or quotas.
You’re only billed a flat landing fee when a referred seller’s vehicle actually lands in your inventory — whether consigned or purchased. If you decide to pause your profile or stop receiving cars, you can do so real-time online with no penalty.
We believe the best partnerships are earned, not forced. That’s why we keep it simple: no contracts — just cars.
Not a problem. Retail My Ride can help you launch a successful consignment program at your dealership with our Consignment Pro™ Starter Kit, hands-on training, and ongoing dealer support.
Our training is built around your existing operations — showing your team how to integrate consignment into your current acquisition, inventory, sales, and process flows with minimal adjustment. The differences are small, nuanced, and non-disruptive, allowing your staff to handle consigned vehicles alongside your owned inventory using familiar systems for reconditioning, pricing, and retailing.
From intake and paperwork to marketing, deal structure, and payout, we make it simple, compliant, and profitable. We can have you up and running quickly.

Consignment gives dealers a smarter, lower-risk way to source retail-ready vehicles with no capital outlay, no floorplan expense, and no auction fees.
You gain new inventory, happier sellers, faster turns, more referrals, and stronger margins — all while integrating easily into your existing processes.
It’s not a side hustle; it’s a profitable second sourcing path that modern dealers are using to grow inventory and reputation.

During our online matching process, sellers indicate where they are in their journey:
Hot connects generate Appointment Confirmation Notification emails to your dealership contact person(s) and the seller. Retail My Ride follows up to see if the appointment was kept or rescheduled.
Warm connects are followed up by a Retail My Ride team member. Our goal isn’t just to confirm readiness and qualify the vehicle based on your preset preferences and condition standards — it’s also to convert that seller from warm to hot by answering questions, building confidence, promoting your dealership and scheduling an appointment when possible. While we may not succeed every time, every warm lead is actively worked and documented.
Once an appointment is scheduled — by either the seller or Retail My Ride — both you and the seller receive an Appointment Confirmation Notification via email.
If a seller isn’t ready to commit, or if our team can’t get in contact after three attempts, the connect is shared with you and the seller as a Referral Notification. Your team can and should follow up directly.
Cold connects also receive push notifications, but with softer messaging — essentially, “We’re here when you’re ready. Please contact us or your matched dealer if/when your selling status changes.” These are also emailed to your dealership as Referral Notifications so you are aware of potential future opportunities — and credited if that vehicle later enters your inventory.
This comprehensive process ensures you receive only qualified sellers and quality vehicles, while maintaining transparency and credit tracking across every lead status.
Consignment is the most profitable, lowest-risk way to retail inventory in today’s market. Instead of writing checks at auction or flooring vehicles you already own, you’re retailing cars that belong to private sellers — cars you don’t have to buy. That means no cash outlay, no floorplan cost, no reconditioning costs, and no depreciation risk.
You make money by retailing the vehicle for the seller and collecting a consignment fee (commission) when it sells. Because you’re operating with zero acquisition cost, your profit comes from your time, process, and expertise — not your checkbook.
Most dealers charge between 5–10% of the final retail price as their consignment fee, plus any approved reconditioning or service costs. When the vehicle sells and your funds are received, you simply deduct your fee and charges, then remit the net proceeds to the seller.
Many dealers also offer sellers the option to convert a consignment into a purchase at any time — turning a retail listing into a direct acquisition when the economics make sense. Either way, Retail My Ride delivers the opportunity; you control the selection, the process, the customer relationship and the margin.
In most U.S. states, vehicle consignment is fully legal when performed by a licensed motor vehicle dealer who follows that state’s specific rules and documentation requirements.
However, a few states restrict or prohibit consignment transactions altogether, or impose additional licensing, bonding, or escrow requirements. Retail My Ride tracks these laws closely and updates our resources as regulations evolve.
To help you stay compliant, we’ve built a State Consignment Rules Library on RetailMyRide.com with current guidance for each state — including dealer requirements, paperwork, fee disclosures, and payment timelines.
If you’re unsure about your state’s position, reference your state’s page in the library or contact Retail My Ride for clarification before taking in a consigned vehicle.
Absolutely. You’re in full control of your Retail My Ride profile and flow of seller connects at all times.
You can real-time pause or resume your dealer profile anytime to manage activity based on your current inventory needs, staffing levels, or seasonal buying patterns. When paused, your dealership will not receive new connects or notifications until you’re ready to resume.
You can also adjust your vehicle preferences and services offered — including vehicle types (autos, classics, exotics, luxury performance, etc.), mileage ranges, and reconditioning, storage, etc. — so the vehicles you’re matched with align perfectly with your buying and retail strategy.
There’s no penalty, no quota, and no minimum activity requirement. Whether you want to slow things down, ramp up, or target specific vehicle types, you decide when and how to engage.
It happens occasionally — and we handle it through a shared follow-up process.
Our system tracks every confirmed seller appointment. If a seller misses their appointment with you, your dealership should take the primary follow-up lead to reconnect and reschedule directly with the seller. Retail My Ride also performs a secondary follow-up — usually within a few days — as a safety net to help re-engage the seller if needed.
You’re never billed for a no-show. Dealers are only billed the flat landing fee once the seller’s vehicle physically lands in your inventory — whether it’s consigned or purchased.
If the seller remains unresponsive after both follow-up efforts, the lead is moved to a Referral Notification status so your dealership still receives credit if the car surfaces later.
This shared approach protects your time, keeps communication consistent, and ensures every billed connection represents a real, qualified opportunity.
